CRUISE SHIP VISITOR TOURS

Bay of Islands is a Tender Port – A free shuttle bus will pick up passengers from tender boats at Waitangi Wharf and take you to the Paihia Village (7mins).
Look for the TOTAL TOURS foothpath sign right near the shuttle bus drop off point. TOTAL TOURS van is white and air conditioned for your comfort.
For groups of 8 or more booking the 2-3 hour tours Pick up will be by prior arrangement

SCENIC FOREST TOUR

Join our relaxed 2 hour Scenic Forest Tour with photo stops. Hear some of the local history and lifestyle stories. Be wowed at the view from the Waitangi Golf Club looking out to your cruise ship and the beautiful islands of the Bay.

Travel through native bush and farmland stopping at Haruru Waterfall. Enjoy highlights of the Paihia Village including the Historic Stone Church and beautiful beaches as we head up to the Kauri Forest where you can take a short easy (30min return) forest walk to see some of NZ’s unique ancient Kauri Trees. Kauri are among the world’s mightiest trees, growing to over 50mtrs tall, with trunk girths up to 16 m, and living for over 2,000 years.

We head towards Kerikeri the citrus capital of NZ. Travelling through, native bush,  forest plantations and passing by beef, sheep & dairy farms.

Romeyn Woodcrafts our first stop showcasing housewares from native NZ timber: Rimu & ancient Kauri a reclaimed timber that has been lying buried for thousands of years in Northland NZ’s swamplands.

Next visit KeriBlue : a working ceramic studio  & NZ gift shop
also home to Get Fudged – do enjoy a taste.

Continuing to the  Historic Stone Store Mission Station by the Kerikeri River,  visit NZ’s oldest buildings : Kemp House and the Stone Store –  offering an amazing range of authentic trade goods similar to those first traded in 1836; along with a quirky range of uniquely New Zealand goods.

With a short drive through the boutique township of Kerikeri to Makana Confections Chocolate factory – specialising in hand-made quality confections using natural ingredients. Taste a few samples and visit the Makana Café where you can enjoy a gelato or coffee.

Returning to Paihia we stop at unique horseshoe Haruru Falls.
Our tour will either return you to the tender at Waitangi Wharf or drop you in Paihia village should you wish to explore further on foot, before catching one of the shuttles back to the tender boat.

Kawiti Glow Worm Caves Tour

2 hours NZ$50 per adult  $30 per child (under 15yrs) – Plus Entrance to the Caves

Departing Paihia we visit the Kawiti Glow Worm Caves for a 30 minute guided tour.
You will see thousands of glow worms surrounded by breath taking stalactites and stalagmites,
incredible rock formations and lush green rainforest.

Departing the caves a short drive we arrive at the old coal mining town of Kawakawa, visit the famous Hundertwasser Toilets, and Kings Theatre Art Exhibition.
